Method of Study:

  1. Read the outstanding 46 page 6-Hour Home Study course either online or from the hard copy book and follow the simple instructions to receive the required Secretary of State approved certificate that you will give to the test proctors when you take the State exam.

  2. Listen to the 2-CD's and use the highlighter to follow the 28 page comprehensive practical proven outline. Instructions will be given on how to complete the sample forms in the enclosed booklet. This outline is the same as the one that is used in our full-day review. Students average over 90% on the State exam after this review and in many of our classes 100% of the students pass.

  3. Additional steps to insure that you pass the State exam

    1. Read the approved 108 Secretary of State Knowledge Facts and make sure you understand them.

    2. Review the enclosed State handbook if you have any questions.

    3. Complete the two 30-question practice exams. These questions are samples based on prior State exams. These exams are more difficult that the State exam to better prepare you.

    4. A last step would be to listen to the 2 CD's again before your exam date and review everything.

    5. When you are ready for your State exam, go to the CPS web site and click on the "Test Schedule" link to view State exam dates. CPS is the company that administers the official notary public exam for the State.

    6. Before going to the State exam site, complete the State exam application that is included in your package. Before you leave for the State exam, be certain that you have the following:

      1. A check for $40.00 payable to the Secretary of State (no cash)

      2. A 2" x 2" passport photo of yourself

      3. Two No. 2 pencils, sharpened (no pencil sharpeners at the exam sites)

      4. Supreme confidence

      5. Plenty of gum - recent surveys have illustrated that gum chewing increases scores

Arrive at the State exam site early. They close the doors at the scheduled time.

  4. After the exam, you must follow the CPS instructions on how to receive your grades and how to submit the required fingerprints, etc. The State will give you further information on filing of an oath and bond and purchase of the Notary Seal. A 2008 regulation change requires that all notaries be fingerprinted every 4 years.

  5. Present Notaries: You can take your State exam up to one year before your commission expiration. Don't procrastinate and be out o business.

  6. Good luck. If you have followed these instructions, you will receive the required minimum 70% grade. Remember that a test taker who gets a 100% grade and a test taker who gets a 70% grade are both called "Notary".

  7. Your support is so appreciated. If you have any suggestions on how to improve our program, please let us know at once. We want to have the best program possible and have all of our students get 100% on the State exam.
